Where to go for left handed guitars and left handed bass guitars? Part Three ? lefty Explorer Bass

These days, with more and more major guitar manufacturers ceasing to make their products in left hand as well, one might well ask the question "where do I go for left handed guitars and left-handed bass guitars these days?"

In actual fact, there are definite guitar and bass models that are popular with guitarists that you cannot get left handed at all. Some have never been available in left hand.

Fortunately there is one guitar brand in the world that makes left handed guitars and left-handed bass guitars only: Gaskell Guitars.

Gaskell Guitars (http://www.gaskellguitars.com) is from Australia, and was started by New Zealand-born left-handed guitarist Kevin Gaskell.

Gaskell Guitars has been going strong formally since 2006 and has become international renowned for left handed guitars and basses, designed by a lefty, for lefties only.

Gaskell makes left handed guitars and basses that are otherwise not available in left hand option by original manufacturers. Here are some examples:

If you are a left-handed bassist and you want to play, for example, an EXPLORER BASS style bass you will be faced with these hard truths first up:

a) Gibson, the original maker of the Explorer guitar and Explorer bass only ever made their Explorer bass once, in 1981. They never made it again.

b) When the made the Explorer bass, it was only a right-handed model and there were only 500 or so made in total.

c) Epiphone Guitars which is Gibson's non-USA, cheaper brand make the same guitars as USA made Gibsons but in the Gibson factory in China. Using cheaper materials and mass production methods they can make very good versions of the Gibson originals, and they are made under the Epiphone brand. Since the factory started in 2002, Epiphone have been turning out better and better instruments all the time. Today's Epiphones are very good guitars, and excellent value for their price point. Epiphone have made some Explorer bass guitars but are not making them now.

d) Epiphone have also never produced left handed Explorer bass guitars.

e) The very cheap and nasty instrument makers whose guitars sell from about 0 to 0 also don't make this guitar, in either right hand or left hand. The many thousands of instrument making factories in China, don't seem to know how or want to do this model.

f)  This is a bass guitar that is pretty much impossible to get – period. If one was really keen, one would have to go to a boutique builder and then be prepared to spend 00 and upwards for one.

Gaskell Guitars makes a left handed Explorer style BASS guitar!

Gaskell's version of the Explorer bass is called the "X-bass." (http://www.gaskellguitars.com/models)

With the shorter 32" scale length and a basswood body, the Gaskell Xbass is an awesome, warm and alive sounding bass guitar for left handed bass players only. It shares the same body size as the Gaskell 6 string Explorer style guitar which is not only slightly smaller than the Gibson inspiration but is also more rounded. Hence the shape is not quite the same as a Gibson Explorer guitar.

The Gaskell headstock is a Gaskell design and is the same design as most of the guitars in the Gaskell range. Copyright infringement is thus totally avoided.

Left-handed guitarists wanting a quality, gig ready, Explorer bass style guitar can get one from one place: Gaskell Guitars.

No matter where you live in the world you can get a Gaskell guitar or bass without too much hassle.

I suggest you look at their website for more info. It is worth it! You will be surprised!

Left-handed guitars and left-handed basses only. Designed by a lefty, for lefties. How much more better than that can you get it?

Kevin Gaskell is the business owner and designer of Gaskell Guitars which is a manufacturer of left handed guitars and basses, located in Sydney Australia. Gaskell guitars are available world wide. http://;www.gaskellguitars.com

Acoustic electrical guitars

Some metal-string acoustic guitars are fitted with pickups as an option to using a different microphone. Antique acoustic guitar system shape:

Metal-stringed vintage acoustic guitars arrive in two basic entire body shapes.

Flattop old-fashioned acoustic guitars - As the identify suggests, flattop antique acoustic guitars characteristic a flattop body. If you perform blues, folk, bluegrass, or rock, flattops, which ended up pioneered by Martin, will suit you very best.

Price tag ranges from ,399 or increased.

The Yamaha LLX-500C is hand constructed in Yamaha?s Japan factory. Features contain a strong spruce major, mahogany neck, and strong rosewood back and sides. The headstock and neck of the acoustic guitar are interesting trim in ivoroid binding, and the Yamaha name on the headstock just seem fantastic. In contrast to numerous acoustic electric, the Yamaha LLX-500C sides are sound instead of laminated.

Guild F50R Jumbo Acoustic Six string

Cost ranges from $ a couple of,499 or greater.

The F50R is dependent on the original F50 specification from 1960s to 1980s. The Guild F50R attributes an ebony fretboard and a rosewood bridge. Neck dimensions contain a 25.6-inch scale and a slightly narrower-than-usual width of 1.69 inches. The F50R does not lack for fine particulars - the fret board has eye-catching abalone and mother-of-pearl inlays and two racing stripes that operate from nut to noise-hole.

Acoustic Acoustic guitar Tabs

Tablature is a form of musical notation, which tells avid gamers exactly where to location their fingers on a certain device rather than which pitches to play. Tablature is mainly witnessed for fretted stringed instruments, in which context it is normally called tab for brief. It is frequently used for the acoustic guitar, bass and lute. But in principle it can be employed for any fretted instrument includes banjo and viola da gamba.

Acoustic Six string Strings

Six string strings are strung parallel to the neck, whose surface is covered by the fingerboard. By depressing a string versus the fingerboard, the effective length of the string can be altered, which in turn adjustments the frequency at which the string will vibrate when plucked. Guitarists normally use 1 hand to pluck the strings and the other to depress the strings versus the fretboard.

The strings may possibly be plucked employing both fingers or a plectrum. The sound of six string is possibly mechanically or electronically, forming two category of six string: acoustic or electric powered.

Learn To Play The Acoustic Guitar: Easy Tips For You

Learning to play the acoustic guitar is great. Acoustic guitars bring the notion of uniqueness to a whole new level. Just give it a go and you will see. Just to see what you look like holding one. You are convinced that if you have the time to learn, you would be fine? You do not know whether it's easy or hard to play the acoustic guitar but you have a musical ear? It's time for you to take the step and begin your musical journey.

It is some achievement to learn to play the acoustic guitar and most of my friends who have never tried it do not know where to start. It is as if they were getting all shy when seeing one. When you start playing your first notes, you feel like there is no limit to it. It is only a mental cap to pass. Being able to step out of the comfort zone to challenge yourself is something you can do too.

However, just keep one thing in mind: learning to play the acoustic guitar is not similar to magic. When you pick up a new language at school, you go through this period of assimilating new rules and new patterns. At the beginning you find it hard and then, little by little, you become more comfortable with the tools you possess. Then, you start broadening and improving your range of vocabulary, expressions and sentence structures. The same is true with learning to play the acoustic guitar

Once you've got the idea of how to play basic notes and -hopefully not long after- how to read guitar tabs, do a web search for easy acoustic guitar tabs and pick out a very basic song that you know well and play around with it. Although reading and playing acoustic guitar tabs does take some getting used to, you'll be surprised how quickly you can learn to play the acoustic guitar.

If you have a favorite song, being able to hear the song that you're working on always makes it easier to learn. Even if you think you remember how it goes, listening to it while you're learning it will help you with rhythm and detail.

Keep in mind that acoustic guitars were created to be played. There are a lot of easy songs you can learn, whether it is from The Eagles, James Taylor or Joni Mitchell. You will never regret the decision you have made to learn to play the acoustic guitar.

What are the Basics of Buying Electric Guitars?

Just about every kid ever born wants to be a rock star. They see their favorite stars up there on stage playing the electric guitar to a crowd and want to do the same. Problem is, it's not easy learning to play the electric guitar.

And of course before you learn to play the guitar you need to own a guitar, or at least borrow one. When you're just starting out learning the electric guitar you don't need one like Jimmy Hendrix would play, but you still need to get your hands on an electric guitar that will be adequate for the beginner. And if that's you then there's a few things that you need to know about electric guitars that may help in understanding a little more about them.

First thing to remember about buying your first electric guitar is that you don't need to spend hundreds of thousands to do so. Be happy with a cheap electric guitar while you're learning, and maybe once you hit the big time spend up big. However a cheap electric guitar will do the job for the first few years.

You also need to know exactly what style of music you will be playing on your guitar. Different styles of music require different styles of electric guitar. You need a different guitar to play rock, for example, to the guitar you'd buy if you were playing jazz.

So spend a little time researching the types of electric guitar that should be used by different music styles.

Electric guitar types boil down to 2 basic types, solid body and hollow body. As the name suggests a solid body guitar has no hollow space inside, and is usually, though not exclusively, made of solid wood. Different types of timber can produce different sounds, so as you get better you may want to research more on the type of timber you need to produce the sound you want, but in the early stages if you're buying a cheap electric guitar don't get too carried away getting the ideal timber, you may find it more expensive than you need to be paying, and it's not essential at the start.

And there's a few unusual terms you'll need to become familiar with if you're buying an electric guitar for the first time. Here's a taste.

Pickups. The pickup is a magnet with a coil of wire wrapped around it placed right under the strings. This receives the vibrations of the strings and turns these into an electric signal for the amp to use. There are 2 types of pickup. The single coil, which produces a sound that sounds good for playing rock, blues and country. Humbuckers are a pickup with 2 coils next to each other that produces a warmer sound which is great for metal and rock in particular. Some guitars have a combination of single coils and humbuckers, and there is usually at least 2 pickups utilized.

Bridge. The bridge is where the strings connect to the body of the guitar. You can have a fixed bridge or a Vibrato bridge which allows you to move the bridge to tighten or loosen the strings. The fixed bridge is better for beginners who can graduate to a Vibrato bridge after they've mastered the basics.

Hollow body electric guitars are the second basic style of guitar. These, as the name suggests, have a hollow body although there is also a variation of this which is the semi hollow. As the player plays his guitar the hollow space helps the body resonate which produces a quite distinctive sound. These are good guitars for jazz. These hollow body guitars also utilize pickups, including single coil and humbucker.

That's really just the start when it comes to understanding electric guitars, and for the enthusiast it's a lifetime job learning all there is to know about them. And finding out exactly what it is that you need to play to produce exactly the sound you want to produce. That's part of the fun of playing the guitar, it's a constant learning process, not just about how to play but what to play as well.

However remember, the most important piece of advice. If you're a beginner don't spend up big the first time. Buy yourself a cheap electric guitar first, then learn to play that and take it from there. It's the best way to kick off your rock star career.

The History of the Electric Guitar

The actual date and time of the invention of the electric guitar hasn't ever been recognized, although it was first seen in the early 1930's by members of orchestras and musicians. The inventors of the electric guitar at that time, who were electronically minded individuals, realized that the guitar needed to be amplified to produce louder sounds in noisy venues and to be able to be heard alongside other instruments.

The reason for this of course was due to the fact that at the time, many of the musical instruments at that time were often made of brass. With this being the case, acoustic guitars would simply not be heard in a band. This frustrated many of the musicians, because the guitar was a popular instrument and was simply being pushed out of the music place.

The version of the instrument that is best known today is the solid body electric guitar, a guitar made of solid wood, without resonating airspaces within it. The electric guitar of this type has an innovation of technology which includes a pickup of some kind that actually causes the vibration from the strings being played to sound through some kind of amplifier. Obviously, the amplifier for the electric guitar was also an issue and the earliest of these often had tubes as televisions did during that time period.

Electric guitars in history have been rather heavy due to the inner components. Over the past few decades the electric guitar has been getting lighter and lighter. The electric guitar and the components are essentially made out of not only lighter wood, but the actual pickup is smaller. This allows for a bigger sound. In fact, some of these electric guitars are even becoming digital in many different aspects of the overall design of the electric guitar.

There are many web sites dedicated to the concept of the electric guitar, and those that are sold today are reasonable and affordable. It is for this reason that so many individuals today are learning to play the electric guitar more. According to statistics the number of those individuals who play the electric guitar has increased tremendously over the past decade alone. With the history of the electric guitar so long ago, the design of the body of the electric guitar has changed too. There are many different colors for the electric guitar now.

There are also those that are considered cut-outs. Cut-outs are those electric style guitars that literally have portions of the body removed for appearance. Depending on where or what type of music the guitar is going to play will usually vary in the appearance and color of the electric guitar.

Electric guitars are found in most bands today. From classical music, rock music and other styles, to ultimately country music that often used acoustic guitars in times past. Many of the electric guitars now also have add-ons or pedals for the guitar that can essentially make the electric guitar sound like any instrument. This is a big advancement from the 1930's when the entire idea of an electric guitar was simply so it could be heard among the other instruments in a band.
