i want to buy my son a fender acoustic/electric guitar and i need to know if the one is a good one as in ?
sound etc.my son had a fender and through his legs collapings when he was carring his guitar he went down and broke the top piece off. the guy at a guitar shop said the one that i will be getting is 3 grades up and it is $899 but i am getting it for $650 and it is a fender (acoustic/electric)as well and it is CD-220SCE steel spring solid spruce top with cutaway looks very nice and also i tried to get as close to the one he loved so much as he cried knowing that it was an accident and he misses playing it so much he also has electric base but he loved this one and i hope i done the write choice in it
It's a middle-end Fender. It's OK, but you can get them from several places on-line for US$400.
I would print out some of these on-line ads and try to bargain the guy down (or just order it on-line).

Stain on Guitar with Satin Finish. Solid Sitka spruce top.?
Martin D-15 Custom Spruce and Rosewood Acoustic Guitar. Stain from sweat from arm resting on top. Can't remove it. Beutiful sound but apprarence is ruined by the stain. Any suggestions?

The technologies behind computing portability have found another successful mark on the new generation of mobile computers called netbooks. Variously called mini notebooks or sub notebooks, netbooks are fast winning markets that have apparently find the regular laptops too powerful for their needs or too expensive for the value their deliver. Many consider netbooks a toned-down laptop meant for the less power hungry users. Not a few have them for their kids already.
A New Market
Netbooks started market penetration in late 2007 filling a special market niche that may have been turned off with the way laptops have evolved. It must be remembered that laptops started out as the portable version of desktop PCs. Hence they inherit much of the power and flexibility of a desktop PC but on a smaller body that allowed mobility with as little compromise as possible on the computing power for the same specification as in a desktop of the same computing class. With the internet becoming a phenomenon in the late 90s, internet access became a mere afterthought for an add-on feature.
In contrast, the netbook has been designed from the ground up as a device for the emerging markets that have made online activity almost their way of life. Its target are the online communities with a need for simple mobile devices that get them online faster and more efficiently with just the right computing power to get passed some office stuff like word processing and spreadsheets. Nothing fancy like gaming or video playback that laptops have become famous for.
Hence, almost all netbooks have simpler interfaces and operating systems that do not support 64-bit architectures on the laptop and desktops. They do not have optical CD/DVD drives and burners that are now pretty much standard in laptops. Even the screens are smaller, typically just 10-inch across and weigh just 2-3 pounds. Consequently they are much cheaper than regular laptops. Some netbooks don't even have hard drives as their storage is based on solid state technology like those used in flash drives. Though solid state storage devices have come down in prices, they remain more expensive on a per megabit basis.
Netbook features are focused on providing the user data connectivity that they can even ride on mobile phone networks. WiFi is standard in all netbooks. Their lack of hard drives is compensated by their USB ports that can accept more than one flash drive at the same time.
A Convergence Imminent
Technical computing strides have made netbooks more powerful than when they started a couple of years back. They have evolved to carry hard disks and optical drives that often confuse them with lower end laptops. But technical advances as they are, it can't be helped that the underpowered netbooks with limited features are game for advancements to spruce them up to the point that their only distinguishing feature from laptops are their smaller sizes.
This could actually be the next evolution of laptops, to make them even smaller. Netbooks are already here to do just that. In the next year or so, the distinction is expected to further blur. Consumers will just have to base their purchasing decision on size. GP
