Earth Science Lesson 13: Earth-Moon System?

Why do the moon phases appear to move "opposite" (from left to right) in the southern hemisphere?

Left-right, up-down for a local observer don't relate at all points on our globe. Better is to use East-West, North-South, or some other universally recognized frame of reference.
I visited Australia and New Zealand once, and noticed that the Moon appeared upside down (in my Northern Hemisphere mind). I think it's confusing to talk about directions like you do.
