What is wrong with the input jack on my amp?

I have a fender amp and the input jack is messed up. The best I can explain is that when I plug the cord into the input jack on the amp, it doesn't "click" into place or I guess "lock" into place. It just sits in the input jack and when i move the cord any direction, it makes a very loud static noise. Help?

the other thing it might be is, there's this little metal tab inside that the groove on your input rests in. That is either bent back (best case scenario) or broken off. Amps are fairly easy to take apart and put back together. I bet if you unscrew the front panel, you will see the tab is bent back as they don't normally break off too easy. If that's the case, over bend it in and when you insert your input the next time it will hold tighter eliminating the loose connection and static. The other answer that mentions soldering wires also has a possibility of being right - this would also be noticable when you take it apart. And if it is the case you can save yourself a ton of money by going to Radio Shack, buying a soldering iron for 8.99 and fixing it yourself.
